COVID-19 - socialising, what can I do?

Continuing to move out of Lockdown

From today (Monday 17th May 2021 ) a further lifting of restrictions allows for greater social activity

  • Overnight stays are allowed in groups of up to 6 people or 2 households
  • You can meet outdoors with up to 30 people (parks/gardens)
  • Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues can reopen indoors
  • adult indoor group sport and exercise classes can restart
  • indoor entertainment such as museums, theatres, cinemas and sports stadia can reopen.

Illegal socialising and parties

From Monday 25th January 2021, an £800 fine for those attending house parties was introduced, which will double for each repeat offence to a maximum level of £6,400.

These fines will apply to those who attend illegal gatherings of more than 15 people in homes.

Unipol tenants

We do not wish any Unipol tenants to receive fines from either the Police or their institutions, and we continue to manage our properties with the safety of staff, contractors and tenants in mind.

Our approach is very much to Engage, Explain and Encourage.

However, in the unfortunate occurrence of a non-household gathering/party and a failure to disperse, our staff will assist and work with the Police and also the relevant University/College to enable them to take the next step, which is enforcement action.
